The Global Advanced Research Conference on Management and Business Studies (GARCOMBS) in 2022

The challenge for organizations in the early first quarter of the 21st century may lie in their ability to survive during a highly turbulent future, uncertain, complex, and vaguely ambiguous world.

This condition cannot be separated from the influence of various factors, such as drastic environmental shifts, exponential leaps in technology, and the level of connectedness in today's world due to globalization. Moreover, the pandemic has accelerated technology adoption and shaped the way we usually work. For some, working from home will be a viable option but not for others, widening inequality gaps through higher risk of infection and daily expenses. Furthermore, inequality will be exacerbated by de-globalization in which the economy is pushed to become regional and local caused by increasing protectionism. This phenomenon has resulted in increased national debt and increased political tensions as a form of distrust of the government. These conditions create a turbulent and unpredictable world that organizations must strive to be resilient in order to survive or operate.

Recognizing the importance of adaptive capabilities for organizations and the complex challenges they face, the Doctor in Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Padjadjaran, held The Global Advanced Research Conference on Management and Business Studies (GARCOMBS) in 2022 with the topic Rethinking and Creating Resilience to Enhance Business Sustainability. This international academic forum has brought together researchers, scholars, policy makers, representatives and delegates from various governmental agencies, local and international organizations to contribute to the further development on the field of management, presented their papers from theoretical, methodological, and practical resilience to enhance business sustainability.
