The Faculty of Economics and Business, Padjadjaran University is committed to increasing the capacity of lecturers by holding training on the use of artificial intelligence in academic writing, research and analysis. This activity was attended by FEB Unpad lecturers and several educational staff by presenting resource person Dr. Donny Maha Putra S.Kom, M.Ak (Head of Organizational Strategy and Business Processes Department of the Ministry of Finance). This training aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the potential and application of AI technology in supporting the process of quality academic writing, directed research and in-depth analysis.
Prof. Dr. Maman Setiawan, Vice Dean for Learning, Student Affairs and Research, in his speech at the opening of the activity explained, “This training is very important in relation to responding to the needs of lecturers and education staff regarding the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education, including universities. AI can help lecturers and education staff make their work easier with better quality. For lecturers, AI can help lecturers’ research in the process of writing articles, essays and books. AI can help lecturers in creating syllabuses and Semester Lecture Plans (RPS).
From this training, lecturers are also expected to be able to teach and guide their students better, including in providing assessments. With AI knowledge, lecturers are expected to be able to make better assessments as students become more open to the use of AI. It is hoped that the use of AI can also increase research productivity and also national and international publications at FEB Unpad. This increase in productivity occurs due to the use of various AI tools that are available for free and for a fee.
“For educational staff, this AI training can help with daily routine work, such as writing letters, financial reports and communicating using various languages.”
Trainees will be equipped with knowledge of various techniques in AI, this training also highlights the broader implications of the integration of AI in academic writing, research and analysis, including ethical considerations, challenges and opportunities associated with the use of this technology. Participants are invited to understand best practices in maintaining authenticity, credibility and editorial integrity in AI-assisted writing, so that the technology can become a tool that supports, rather than replaces, human creativity and expertise.
All participants were quite enthusiastic about taking part in this training, “The topic of this workshop is very interesting and very fruitful for lecturers in conducting teaching and research. Lecturers must be able to adapt to technology, especially AI, to be able to produce output effectively, which is hoped will increase publications and increase Unpad’s ranking in the international arena. This workshop is very helpful as an insight opener for lecturers about using AI in research. Hopefully there will be further workshops. Thank you FEB Unpad” (Dr. Dini Rosdini – Permanent Lecturer at FEB Unpad)
Today’s AI training is the first AI training and there will be further advanced AI training to follow. This AI training was coordinated by Manager, Research Collaboration and Innovation, Dr Arie Pratama.
