Putri Riswani Halim is a source of pride for the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Padjadjaran (FEB Unpad) for her achievements in the international academic world. This graduate of the Development Economics Study Program successfully completed her doctoral studies in the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Padjadjaran (FEB Unpad) through the accelerated Master’s Program to Doctorate for Excellent Graduates (PMDSU), a prestigious scholarship program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
Putri, born in Bekasi on February 4, 1997, has demonstrated extraordinary capacity as a young academic. Since the beginning of her studies, she has been active in various research projects and strategic consulting both at home and abroad. She has served as a consultant and speaker for Bank Indonesia and was part of the research team for the Leaving No One Behind project with the United Nations (UN) in Indonesia and UN ESCAP.
She also gained opportunities to expand her global perspective through the Summer School program at the University of Chicago and as a Visiting Researcher at King’s College London for six months. Ultimately, in 2024, Putri was selected as a PhD Fellow at the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki, Finland. She was the only representative from an Asian university to pass the rigorous selection process, becoming one of the top 1% of applicants globally.
More than just an academic achievement, Putri’s journey is inspiring because of her success in balancing her roles as a young researcher and a mother. On her way to her doctorate, Putri experienced pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and raising her child, all without the assistance of a caregiver. This resilience and dedication reflect the spirit of Indonesian women who are empowered in both the intellectual and family spheres.
“Alhamdulillah, this is all thanks to God’s grace and guidance. I simply try my best to fulfill the mandate of knowledge and family,” she said.
Putri has also published several scientific articles in reputable international journals and co-authored a book published by Oxford University Press. These achievements demonstrate her contribution to the development of development economics and inclusive policy.
The Faculty of Economics and Business, Padjadjaran University, is proud of and appreciates Putri Riswani Halim’s achievements. This achievement not only brings honor to the faculty and university, but also serves as proof that passion, hard work, and the courage to dream big can lead FEB Unpad alumni to make a global impact.
