The Faculty of Economics and Business UNPAD held an Unpad halal expo event in collaboration with BPKH and MES, supported by the Padjadjaran Halal Center (PHC) and Oorange in order to provide product literacy and the halal industry to the community and build a sustainable halal ecosystem. This event was held with the theme “Exploring the Halal Lifestyle: Building a Sustainable Halal Ecosystem” which reflects the commitment to developing the halal industry in Indonesia. Indonesia, as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has great potential in developing the halal industry. The latest data base shows that the demand for halal products in Indonesia continues to increase along with public awareness of the importance of consuming products that comply with halal principles. According to the Global Islamic Economy Indicator,
The Unpad halal expo event will begin with the signing of an MoU and cooperation from BPKH and MES with FEB Unpad which will be represented by the Chancellor Prof. Rina Indiastuti, and accompanied by the Dean of FEB Unpad Prof. Nunuy Nur Afiah. In addition there are also several representatives from:
• Head of West Java BI Representative: Mr. Erwin Gunawan Hutapea
• Main Director of Bank Syariah Indonesia
• Chairman of the Sharia Economic Society
• Professor of FEB Unpad Prof. Dr. Ilya Avianti, SE., M.Si., Ak.
The Unpad Halal Expo (UHE) event also invited stakeholders who play a role in developing the halal industry such as representatives from Principle Asset Management (PAM), West Java provincial government, BPJPH and many other partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of this event.
A series of events at the Unpad halal expo included talk shows, halal talks, halal industry seminars and business pitching with MSMEs. Business people can participate in business pitching to obtain business financing from Islamic Financial Institutions and investors, as well as Halal Talk about financial planning strategies and tips on pilgrimage at a young age. We also present influencers to share tips in order to get opportunities for potential business and investment for the younger generation, as well as many other interesting events.
We provide a place for MSMEs to be able to participate in UHE events by playing an active role and joining as partners/tenants to enliven this event. We believe that the halal industry in Indonesia has great potential to continue to develop covering various sectors, such as food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, tourism and finance. Consumers are increasingly aware of the importance of halal certification as a guarantee of product quality and halalness. This creates opportunities for business actors, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to increase their capacity in producing quality halal products.
Unpad Halal Expo is present as an activity program that brings together stakeholders
the halal industry, from producers, researchers, academics, to consumers. Through this event,
the public will be given literacy about halal products, including information about the process
halal certification, quality standards, and the latest innovations in the industry. Besides that, this event too
aims to encourage synergies between all stakeholders in development sustainable halal ecosystem
