EcoMove: FEB Unpad’s Campaign to Create a Green and Inclusive Campus with a Leisurely Walk

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Padjadjaran University (FEB Unpad) held a fun walk with the theme “EcoMove” as the opening event for the 68th anniversary celebrations of FEB Unpad in 2025. The event was attended by lecturers, educational staff, and members of the FEB Unpad academic community.

The Chair of the FEB Unpad 68th Anniversary Committee, Dr. Adhitya Wardhana, in his remarks expressed his appreciation for the participation of all participants. “This is not just a fun walk, but a momentum to strengthen togetherness and foster environmental awareness,” he said.

With the theme “EcoMove,” this activity served as a means of socialization and a campaign for FEB Unpad to build a green and inclusive campus. Dr. Adhitya also added that “EcoMove” itself has a dual meaning: the first “Eco” refers to economy, in keeping with FEB’s identity as the Faculty of Economics and Business, while the second “eco” refers to ecology/green, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to environmental sustainability. “In this way, EcoMove not only symbolizes a thriving economy, but also one that aligns with green and inclusive values,” he explained.

The EcoMove event began with group exercise in the courtyard of the Lead Building of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Unpad Jatinangor, and remarks from the Vice Dean for Organization and Resources, Dina Sartika, Ph.D., explained that this theme was chosen to raise collective awareness for environmental protection through simple yet impactful activities, such as a leisurely walk.

Afterward, the event continued with a leisurely walk around the Unpad Jatinangor campus, where all participants enjoyed the green and shady atmosphere typical of Unpad. The atmosphere was further enlivened by a toktak (a game of chess) competition among the academic community, adding to the joy and camaraderie. Furthermore, several attractive door prizes were awarded to lucky participants, adding to the festive atmosphere.
To conclude, the entire academic community enjoyed a communal buffet meal. Interestingly, to support the eco-friendly concept, food is served on washable plates and cups, rather than disposable lunch boxes, as a concrete manifestation of FEB Unpad’s commitment to reducing single-use plastic and reducing waste.

FEB Unpad’s Sustainability Commitment (SDGs)

FEB Unpad has implemented several environmentally friendly programs, including:

Waste management with the tagline “sampahmutanggungjawabmu” (your trash is your responsibility) and a plastic reduction campaign through the use of tumblers. Furthermore, FEB Unpad provides separate waste bins for organic waste, inorganic/dry waste, and residual waste bins in several parts of the campus.

Water conservation is achieved by providing filtered drinking water dispensers connected directly to the water tap, and by providing reminders about the importance of efficient water use through posters and stickers in every restroom.

Energy conservation is achieved through the use of energy-efficient LED lighting and solar panels in the garden and parking areas. Furthermore, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) has implemented a carpooling system, providing daily shuttle services for lecturers and staff between Bandung and Jatinangor and Bandung. This is done to save energy and reduce the costs associated with emissions from using private vehicles.

Environmental safety and health include break rooms, mental health counseling services, and disability-friendly facilities such as elevators, wheelchair ramps, and wheelchairs in every building. To provide women’s health services, the Faculty also provides free sanitary napkins or feminine hygiene dispensers in several restrooms for female lecturers and male students.

These efforts not only support the comfort of the academic community but also contribute to the wider community through sustainable practices.

Furthermore, the Eco Move initiative aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:

SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through physical and mental health campaigns;

SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) with water-saving programs;

SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through the use of renewable energy and carpooling;

SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) with the development of environmentally friendly and inclusive facilities;

SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through waste management and plastic reduction;

SDG 13 (Climate Action) through a commitment to environmental sustainability.

In the spirit of its 68th Anniversary, FEB Unpad affirms that the transformation towards a green and inclusive campus will
