The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unpad held a Disability Services Readiness Training as a commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming campus for all members of the academic community, including people with disabilities.
The event, held at the LEAD Building of FEB Unpad Jatinangor, was opened by Dina Sartika, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Dean of FEB Unpad, who emphasized the importance of the readiness of all faculty elements to provide equal services to students and guests with special needs.
On this occasion, FEB Unpad presented a resource person from Padjadjaran University, Sheizi Prista Sari, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Community Nursing and a member of the Unpad Disability Services Unit (ULD). She presented material on various aspects of services and facilities needed by people with disabilities, including wheelchair use, the importance of a health room, counseling services for students with mental health issues, wheelchair access to elevators, and ensuring equal access within the faculty environment, all of which are currently available at FEB Unpad.
“Disability isn’t just physically visible; it can also be invisible, such as mental health issues or certain health problems. Therefore, it’s important for all of us to understand that inclusive services must encompass all forms of needs,” explained Sheizi Prista Sari.
This training was attended by security personnel and cleaning staff at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unpad, who interact directly with students and guests on a daily basis. They gained practical knowledge, such as how to properly use a wheelchair and emergency response steps to assist people with disabilities.
“We at ULD Unpad want to ensure that when a student or guest with a disability arrives, everyone at FEB can provide assistance in the right way, not just based on assumptions,” added Sheizi.
The Vice Dean of FEB, Dina Sartika, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., also emphasized that this activity is not merely a ceremonial event, but a regular faculty agenda that will continue to be developed.
“This training is a regular event at FEB Unpad so that the entire academic community has the awareness and skills to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment,” she said.
Inclusiveness here refers to how the Faculty embraces everyone without discrimination, providing equal opportunities and access for students, lecturers, and educational staff from diverse backgrounds and needs.
With this event, FEB Unpad strives to build a culture of humanistic, equal service and support the Integrity Zone, in line with Universitas Padjadjaran’s tagline: Excellence, Inclusiveness, and Impact.
