On Thursday, December 19, 2024, FEB Unpad began its exciting journey in the AACSB Accreditation Process with a kickoff meeting led by AACSB Mentor Professor Ross James. Professor James serves as the Dean of the University of Canterbury Business School in New Zealand and is also a member of the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC). This milestone meeting marks the formal start of the accreditation process, which typically spans 5-7 years. The online session was attended by FEB Unpad’s Dean, Prof. Dr. Nunuy Nur Afiah, S.E., M.Si., Ak and all officials of FEB. It also signified the launch of the mentoring program to develop the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER).
After completing the requirements of the pre-accreditation process over two years, FEB Unpad successfully secured the approval of its Unit Application in 2022 and Eligibility Application in 2024. Building on these accomplishments, FEB Unpad is now advancing to the formal accreditation process. On November 8, 2024, the Initial Accreditation Committee of AACSB approved FEB Unpad’s application for accreditation. Following this approval, FEB Unpad is now tasked with drafting the iSER, a process that may take up to two years. Professor Ross James will guide FEB Unpad during this phase, offering invaluable insights as a peer reviewer for numerous accreditation candidates. Once the iSER is submitted, FEB Unpad will proceed independently with the accreditation process, including compiling progress reports and preparing for the peer-review visit, which must occur within three years.
During the kickoff meeting, Professor Ross James underscored the significance of having a concise and clear vision and mission statement. According to him, a well-articulated mission statement serves as the cornerstone of strategic planning and ensures the school’s long-term sustainability. He further outlined the initial steps in creating the iSER, beginning with a gap analysis report to compare the school’s current conditions against AACSB standards. Professor James assured the attendees of his support during the analysis phase but clarified that his assistance would conclude once the iSER is submitted.
Prof. Dr. Nunuy Nur Afiah, S.E., M.Si., Ak, Dean of FEB Unpad, expressed her optimism about the journey ahead, emphasizing the faculty’s commitment to meeting AACSB’s high standards. She remarked, “This accreditation process represents a transformative step for FEB Unpad, aligning our institution with globally recognized benchmarks of excellence in business education. Together with our dedicated team, we are determined to achieve this significant milestone.”
This journey toward AACSB accreditation exemplifies FEB Unpad’s dedication to continuous improvement and its mission to provide world-class education that equips graduates to excel in an increasingly globalized world.
