Student exchange program between Bandung Institute of Technology and Padjadjaran University

The student exchange program between the Bandung Institute of Technology and Padjadjaran University (ITB) has reopened for the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Twelve students from the Bioenergy Engineering Program at ITB are participating in the Economics Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Padjadjaran University, taking the Digital Finance course. The course is held at the LEAD Building, Jatinangor Campus, FEB Unpad.

The presence of ITB students at FEB Unpad provides an engaging space for cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas. Students with technology and energy backgrounds now have the opportunity to understand the development of digital financial systems, from financial technology innovations to their impact on future economic dynamics. This interaction not only enriches their academic knowledge but also opens new perspectives on the interconnectedness of technology, industry, and economics.

One participant, Rifan Suryadi, expressed his interest in participating in the program because he wanted to gain learning experiences outside his field of study. “I wanted to learn new things outside my major. In our major, we focus more on the process industry, but we also need to understand economic aspects such as profits and losses in the industries we will later manage in our environment and work,” he said.

Mochammad Ariq Syah echoed this sentiment, expressing his hope that similar programs can continue to develop. He noted that many students are interested in studying fields outside their majors. “I hope student exchange programs like this can be expanded further, as I’m sure students have interests beyond their majors. This program is excellent and I hope it continues to be developed and maintained,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nicole Clara Laurence expressed her hope that collaboration between universities would not be limited to lectures. She hopes that in the future, student exchange programs can also be developed into joint projects or case studies involving students from various disciplines.

Heriyaldi, a lecturer in charge of the Digital Finance course at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Padjadjaran University (Unpad), also expressed his appreciation. He stated that the presence of students from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) brought a new dimension to the classroom learning process. “I really appreciate the presence of ITB students in the Digital Finance course at FEB Unpad. This presence creates a more collaborative and multidisciplinary learning environment for understanding the development of digital finance,” he said.

Through this program, FEB Unpad students also have the opportunity to see how engineering and technological perspectives can contribute to understanding the development of the digital economy. The meeting between engineering and economics students demonstrated that future challenges require cross-disciplinary collaboration, and it is hoped that it will inspire students to remain open to new learning experiences and build broader academic networks.
