From 22 to 28 June 2026, the SMARTAMBAK application development team, DIGITS FEB Padjadjaran University, had the opportunity to visit several leading universities in Australia, such as Deakin University, RMIT University, Monash University, and UNSW Sydney. The visit was motivated by efforts to discuss research collaboration and disseminate information on the results of SMARTAMBAK application research that had been carried out by DIGITS UNPAD.
Research collaboration has become one of the mottos of DIGITS UNPAD because of the belief that collaborative relationships can become a complementary ecosystem that strengthens research and innovation to capture opportunities. As stated by Prof. Hamzah Ritchi as a representative from DIGITS UNPAD at one of the discussion opportunities with Deakin University, “We believe there is a strong opportunity to build a complementary ecosystem, where research, innovation, and large-scale transformation reinforce each other”.
This is proven by the central role of DRMS-SMARTAMBAK research which seeks to help shrimp farmers as a result of collaboration between DIGITS UNPAD and one of the leading universities in Australia, namely UNSW Sydney. Apart from that, the success of this research is also due to the collaboration of all stakeholders, such as the government, shrimp farming entrepreneurs, and the farmers themselves.
Therefore, in an effort to increase the creation of a positive impact on global society, DIGITS UNPAD opened a discussion space to expand and strengthen opportunities for research collaboration with other leading universities in Australia, namely Deakin University, RMIT University, and Monash University, on 22 to 23 July 2026.
Then, on 27 July 2026, representatives of the UNPAD DIGITS team had the opportunity to give a material presentation at UNSW Sydney entitled, “Learning from Australia-Indonesia CONNECTION Digital Transformation Partnership”. On this occasion, the UNPAD DIGITS team shared the research journey carried out together with UNSW Sydney until it was finally able to have a positive impact on global society. This opportunity is an effort to create transparency regarding the results of collaborative research carried out by the two universities.
Prof. Alexander M. A. Khan had the opportunity to provide a presentation regarding the background and future views of DRMS – SMARTAMBAK research, where he said that there was still a need for development and refinement of the shrimp disease base which focuses more deeply on shrimp pathology, and there was still a need for optimization of the diagnostic system. This has always been the focus of SMARTAMBAK application development.
Apart from that, DIGITS UNPAD also held discussions with UNSW Sydney so that they could continue to maintain and strengthen the collaboration between the two universities in creating a positive impact through research and innovation in the future.
